At Antioch University Seattle, I serve as a professor in the APA-accredited PsyD program, where I focus on training future psychologists through a strength-based and humanistic lens. My role includes teaching, mentoring, and leading initiatives that integrate positive psychology principles to foster resilience, well-being, and social justice.Teaching and Research: I teach courses in solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, clinical supervision, and community psychology, blending theoretical foundations with practical skill development. All of my classes are grounded in a Humanistic Foundation and the belief that all humans are worthy of unconditional positive regard within the therapeutic setting. Mentorship and Research: I serve as advisor to doctoral students, helping them navigate their five-year program and apply to training siters that meet their long term goals. I also oversee remediation committees as needed. Along with advising, I also chair doctoral dissertations primarily through a strength-based, solution-focused, and multicultural lens. Direct Positive Psychology Lab (PPL): Our Lab is driven by its mission to build resilience and foster well-being in individuals, families, communities, and organizations. Through research and the promotion of strength-based initiatives, the lab emphasizes practical applications of positive psychology principles. PPL fosters collaboration among students and faculty, resulting in a number of local and national presentations, multiple publications, two books, and quite a few dissertations. Engaging the Community: Along with teaching our Community Psychology course, I oversee our Social Justice Project that matches students to non-profit organizations within the community. In my seven years in this role, our students have delivered over 5,200 hours of volunteer work to the greater Seattle area.
