ABOUT HEENA DIVECHA
Life is not a continuum of pleasant choices, but of inevitable problems that call for strength, and hard work.” -Anonymous I am a Research Associate at Lieber Institute for Brain Development, working on next-generation sequencing projects using 10x Genomics Visium technology in postmortem human brain tissue. Executing planned transcriptomic projects that aim to create spatial maps of gene expression in the human brain and examine associations with neuropsychiatric disease risk and illness state. Utilizing MATLAB skills to perform image processing and expanding my computational knowledge by coding in R to conduct preliminary data analysis. I obtained my Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering with a research background and expertise in molecular biophysics, clinical research, and Medical Imaging. Gaining knowledge about cell and bacterial culture, computational simulations, and coding while working on the thesis project. Utilizing these skills towards a Research Technician role at Duke University while establishing and understanding the eye-brain connections using a prototype Optical Coherence Tomography system in preterm infants, processing high-resolution images using MATLAB. My colleagues and mentors describe me as an independent, hard-working, and resourceful individual that maintains a positive, upbeat attitude during hardships. I aim to pursue my passion for conducting research and finding answers to my intellectual curiosity about the intricacies of the human brain.
