View department →

I lead S&P Global Energy research efforts into petrochemical feedstocks and refinery-petrochemical integration for Europe, Eurasia and Africa, bringing together our data and expertise across crude oil markets, natural gas liquids, refining, olefins, aromatics, and their derivatives. As demand for conventional fossil road fuels might peak as early as this decade, refining companies adjust their strategies to prepare for the future. Deeper petrochemical integration in a bid to reduce exposure to transport fuels is one of the avenues under consideration. However, competition from cost-advantaged producers is fierce, the capital outlay significant and domestic sustainability targets for plastics

ABOUT HÉDI G.

I help clients, in Europe and beyond, with an important stake in the downstream value chain - refiners, petrochemical producers, distributors, trading companies, logistics providers and the financial community - make their critical business decisions. This includes operating strategies, project appraisals, market studies, and responding to new opportunities stemming from the energy transition.Over the last years, I have specialised in the heavy fractions of the oil barrel, petrochemical feedstocks, as well as long-term price and margin forecasting. As the energy transition accelerates, I help my clients answer the questions ‘what next for my assets?’ and ‘is deeper petrochemical integration the right solution for us?’I built my expertise through the diversity of research and consulting assignments at S&P Global Commodity Insights (formerly IHS Markit and Purvin & Gertz), and ExxonMobil’s job rotation program across all disciplines in refining and supply. I hold an MBA from Antwerp Management School and Civil Engineering degree from Ghent University. Can I help you?Views expressed on this profile page are my ownWork experience2023 - present: Research Lead Petrochemical Feedstocks - Europe, Eurasia and Africa20••••23: Group Head - Europe/Eurasia Refining Research20••••19: Consulting Director Downstream Oil20••••16: Senior Consultant Downstream OilExxonMobil20••••14 : Heavy Feedstocks and Fuel Oil Circuit Optimizer, European refinery system20••••12 : Site Training Coordinator, Antwerp Refinery20••••11 : Process Services Supervisor, Antwerp Refinery20••••09 : Earnings Analyst, Antwerp and Rotterdam Refineries20••••08 : Process Planner, Rotterdam Refinery20••••06 : Contact Engineer Oil Movements & Storage, Antwerp RefinerySpecialties - Production and logistics planning- Refining circuit optimization- Feedstock selection- Marine fuel markets- Crude oil valuation- Earnings Analysis and Reporting- Corporate Planning- Refining-Petrochemical integration- Margin improvement
