About Hector Almaguer

Thirty years of closing deals that most attorneys never see. FIFA World Cup 2026. Roc Nation. Warner Music Group. Paramount/Viacom. Discovery. Universal Music Group. I have served as chief legal officer, General Counsel, VP of Business and Legal Affairs, and outside transactional counsel across every major sector of entertainment, media, and technology. My practice covers music (recording, publishing, sync, touring, catalog monetization), film and television (development, production, distribution, talent, financing), sports and live events (sponsorship, venue, NIL, PRO licensing), and emerging technology (Web3, NFT licensing, tokenization, streaming platforms, ad tech). I am currently primary outside entertainment and music counsel to FIFA and the World Cup 2026, negotiating artist deals, live event agreements, and commercial IP matters across three countries. What sets this practice apart is the other side of the table I have sat on. Before law, I operated as a Grammy-nominated and CLIO award-winning record producer, platinum composer, and independent label owner for a decade. I know what a producer means when they say the split is wrong. I know what an artist gives up when they sign without reading Section 7. That perspective closes deals that stall when the room is all lawyers. I am trilingual in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, with deep transactional experience across Latin America, US Hispanic markets, and international territories. I have structured agreements with every major label, studio, and streaming platform, and represented artists including Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, J Balvin, Floyd Mayweather, and Anne Akiko Meyers. For six years I taught music contracts at the University of Miami as Adjunct Professor. I am actively interested in returning to the classroom, whether as a visiting practitioner, adjunct, or full-time faculty member in entertainment law, IP, or music industry studies. If you are building or leading a legal team in entertainment or tech, advising talent or institutions, or looking for a practitioner who can teach what they have actually done, I would like to hear from you.
