About Hector Rincon
I am a motivated, enthusiastic scientist who is passionate about biomedical research and its positive effect on human health. With more than 10+ years experience in basic science research, my background in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology has given me the opportunity to participate in diverse fields including cell biology, signal transduction, transgenesis, cellular differentiation and cellular reprogramming. I am a team player and an experienced troubleshooter excited for goal-oriented innovative science. I possess expertise in genomic and proteomic approaches for studying genetic and epigenetic gene regulation. I have also mentored graduate and undergraduate students and have trained research associates. My experience in the field has translated into a strong publication record in major journals. Technical expertise: Designing and performing biomedical research. Transgenesis (siRNA, shRNA- and gene delivery using retrovirus, lentivirus and DNA transposons, cell electroporation and lipid-based transfection). Genomic and proteomic approaches (chromatin immunoprecipitation, oligonucleotide microarrays and tandem affinity purification-mass spectrometry). Protein characterization and purification (FPLC, size-exclusion chromatography, Western blot, immunoprecipitation, ELISA). Molecular biology (molecular cloning, Southern blot, Northern blots, quantitative PCR, RT-qPCR). Bioinformatics (Blast, Ingenuity Pathway Analysis, familiar with R language). Antibody purification, validation and quality control. Cell biology techniques (fluorescent and confocal microscopy, cell migration analysis, cell reprogramming approaches).
