ABOUT HEATHER WALSH

Heather Walsh thrives on shooting interesting people and their environments. Specializing in human-interest stories and sensitive cultural issues, she creates images that are genuine and intimate statements about the people and places she photographs. As a “real people” photographer establishing trust with her subjects is crucial. Equally, trust is important to her clients, as Heather is a true partner, invested in her client’s success, collaborating, creating and delivering imagery that contributes to our visual culture. “With respect, sensitivity, and empathy, I connect with my subjects and capture authentic emotions about our shared humanity.” With roots as a fine art painter in New Mexico, as her vision evolved, she found her passion, her life’s work as a photographer. With that transition, Heather moved to Long Island enjoying life by the beach, and proximity to NYC. Heather is accredited with sensitivity training to meet the unique challenges of photographing the seriously ill and special needs individuals. She produced the Aging Out of Foster Care project for Salaam Garage, a digital storytelling organization that unites journalists, writers and photographers with international NGOs and local non-profits to produce projects that create positive social change. “Driven by storytelling, I am particularly interested in cause-related projects that merge photojournalism and portraiture.” Heather is a regular contributor to leading publications: The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and Newsday. Clients also include Forbes Life, Consumer Reports, Hamptons Magazine, Edible Manhattan, and W.W. Norton & Co. Her photography has been exhibited prominent locations such as the National Arts Club and Lincoln Center.
