About Heather Price

My main academic interests are weaving climate science, climate justice, civic engagement, and undergraduate research into general chemistry, and helping both STEM and non-STEM faculty incorporate climate justice and civic engagement into their core curriculum. I do outreach, teaching, writing, and public speaking on the climate crisis and air pollution. I also run faculty institutes and workshops to help faculty incorporate climate justice and civic engagement in their existing core curriculum. My latest NSF IUSE grant, with colleagues at Bellevue College and North Seattle College (NSC), is titled Climate Justice in Undergraduate STEM Incorporating Civic Engagement (C-JUSTICE). My previous NSF grant (RISE), with colleagues at Central Washington University and NSC, focused on integrating interdisciplinary research investigations into undergraduate general chemistry and biology curriculum. My postdoctoral research focused on atmospheric chemistry of hydrogen and deuterium with University of Washington’s Program on Climate Change, and my Chemistry PhD research focused on long range transport and photochemistry of air pollutants crossing the Pacific Ocean. I am interested in regional (Pacific Northwest) air pollution research and impacts of recent summertime wildfire smoke on underrepresented populations in the Seattle region.
