   After trying the \"stay at home mom\" gig, I was thrilled with the opportunity to work with my husband when we moved to Joplin to open our chiropractic office. At the time, I did not anticipate the level of my involvement. We are both very strong-willed individuals and did not know if we would be able to work together. We started with one rule, he is the boss at work and I am the boss at home. He has fired me once. My responsibilities have changed over time. I have worked in every aspect of the office but prefer having a team so patient care does not depend on me. Creating systems and procedures has made this possible. If I did not cherish a flexible schedule, I would spend all my time at the front desk. Getting to know patients and being able to help them directly is the most gratifying aspect of the work I do. Second best is being able to develop a team and the systems to make it possible to serve as many patients as possible. It is the little things that make a business run smoothly and keep patients satisfied. This is where I thrive.A growing office is a direct result of effective systems and targeted marketing.
