Through Kent State University main and Stark regional campuses, taught the asynchronous/distance learning course,\"Art as a World Phenomenon.\" This course, designed for non-art majors, encouraged students to explore the essential qualities of art and the motivations for creating art in both Western and non-Western cultures. Students developed an enhanced ability to identify and describe various media and styles of artistic production, and a basic knowledge of the major cultural periods and representative artworks in the history of world art. Redesigned the course in summer 2016 to reflect both a more thematically-driven focus and a priority on engaging students in the seven types of art analysis: formal, stylistic, iconographic, contextual, psychological, feminist, and gender studies analyses.
