ABOUT HEATHER WHITE

Heather White is the author of Eco-Anxiety: Saving Our Sanity, Our Kids, and the Future (Harper Horizon 9/24/24), 60 Days to a Greener Life: Ease Eco-Anxiety Through Joyful Daily Action (Harper Horizon 2024) and One Green Thing: Discover Your Hidden Power to Help Save the Planet (Harper Horizon 2022). She\'s the Founder of OneGreenThing, a nonprofit that tackles eco-anxiety through joyful daily action, leading to culture change for policy solutions. Heather is a nationally recognized environmental policy expert with extensive experience leading and advising non-profits, including increasing organizational performance, guiding strategic planning, and directing innovative fundraising and advocacy campaigns. She writes about Gen Z and climate anxiety. In 2019, she created Heather White Strategies, a consulting firm to help businesses, foundations, and nonprofits create a greener, healthier, and more just world. From June 2016 to June 2019, Heather served as President & CEO of Yellowstone Forever, where she managed a complex merger to launch the official nonprofit partner of Yellowstone National Park. During her tenure, she led the organization to raise more than $50 million, provided $18 million in cash grants to the park, increased educational Institute participants by 45%, and more than quadrupled its digital reach to more than online supporters. As Executive Director of EWG, Heather nearly doubled annual revenues to $13.7 million, created the first strategic plan and rebranding that increased web traffic by 40% to 23 million unique yearly visitors, and directed advocacy campaigns for its two million supporters. Heather also served as an adjunct faculty member at the University Tennessee College of Law, Georgetown University Law Center, Director of Education Advocacy for the National Wildlife Federation, Counsel to Senator Russ Feingold, a presidential campaign staffer & recount attorney for Al Gore, and an associate at Bass, Berry & Sims law firm. In 2015, Heather was named one of the \"Top 10 Women Leaders in Sustainability\" by Green Building & Design magazine and \"100 Women to Watch in Wellness\" by MindBodyGreen. She\'s a frequent spokesperson in national media and serves on several nonprofit boards.Heather earned her J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Tennessee College of Law and studied environmental law at the University of Nairobi in Kenya. She graduated from UVa with a B.A. in Environmental Science as an Echols Scholar. At UVa, she spent a year studying conservation biology at the University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand.
