ABOUT HEATHER SANDERS

I have a decade of experience in the education sector, currently serving as an educational consultant and lead improvement specialist. I specialize in the Science of Reading and Structured Literacy practices in this role. I have the opportunity to coach, model, and consult with educators at all levels, including administrators and state boards, in order to bring evidence-based practices into classrooms all over the United States. I\'ve also designed professional development sessions with effective adult learning practices around Science of Reading and community engagement. Prior to this role, I had the opportunity to support and teach children from kindergarten through tenth grade, reaching all ages of students along my journey. I prioritize social emotional learning, as I wrote my Master\'s thesis on the efficacy of social emotional learning in the classroom and have received multiple trainings to enhance my skillset. Additionally, caregiving is a passion of mine. I have worked as a caregiver since 2012. My clients have varied over the years, making me a good fit for children or adults that need daily assistance. I provide physical and emotional support to patients to ensure their comfort. In my free time, I greatly value self care. I am a passionate runner, enjoying many races each year. Along with that, I enjoy most outdoor sports. I like to hike, bike, ski, swim, kayak, and travel. I am always interested in an adventure.
