ABOUT HEATHER MURPHY
As Director of Aquatic Resources at SEM Ltd in Newfoundland and Labrador, I oversee or manage all aquatic disciplines and projects for the company. Through my consulting career I’ve accrued 15 years of experience in the aquatic and regulatory compliance sectors across Canada including working in British Columbia, Ontario, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Notably with NL Hydro, where I specialized in environmental compliance, GIS, constraints/risk analysis and permitting for the Labrador-Island Link. I have also played key roles as an environmental assessment specialist, lead on stakeholder engagement and Fisheries Act Authorizations and Schedule 2 amendments in mining, exploration, renewable energy (hydro and wind) and LNG industries. As a Director of Aquatic Resources at SEM, I continue to contribute to my discipline through field work, technical report writing and managing diverse teams. Currently I am also serving as Vice-Chair of the Board at econext, a non-profit organization that accelerates clean growth in Newfoundland and Labrador.
