ABOUT HEATHER MCKINNEY

Heather McKinney, FAIA, is the founding principal of McKinney York Architects, which she started in 1983. McKinney York is well established as a leading general practice firm in Texas with expertise across the spectrum of building types from residential to institutional. 2013 marks the award-winning firm’s 30th anniversary.As Founding Principal, Heather guides the conceptual design dialogue for the firm’s work – \"we draw inspiration equally from our clients’ aspirations, project program, and the unique qualities of the site. The results we achieve are timeless and remarkably free of a signature style.”The firm is recognized often with design awards, and is published in magazines as diverse as Wired and Texas Highways, and in shelter and trade magazines from House Beautiful to Architectural Record. In 2020, the Texas Society of Architects awarded McKinney with the Medal for Lifetime Achievement.
