I am passionate about environmental sustainability, community building, and creating a more egalitarian society. My strengths are in research, organizing, communicating, problem solving, and seeing projects through to completion. I thrive in a goal-oriented environment that values self-motivation. I get in the flow when working on projects that relate to my passions and involve learning. I bring a plethora of skills to the table including:Researching - researched programs cities have used to cut emissions for use in an upcoming book by David Miller - completed a PhD in Biochemical Toxicology and a Master of Climate Change - developed new University course material as a Lecturer - prepared literature reviews, media analysis, event analysis, policy analysisCommunicating - prepared webinars and a toolkit for municipalities on financing home energy efficiency retrofits - adept at presenting complex information in a clear and logical way as a Lecturer and researcher - wrote three successful grant applications for community gardensWorking independently - worked remotely for Clean Air Partnership and for David Miller - developed a new community garden - initiated annual Homeschool Science Fairs plus History and Geography FairsWorking as a team player - collaborated with others to present a report on Climate Change and the Tree Canopy of WR - supervised project teams of as a Garden Coordinator and Refugee Sponsorship Team Leader - lead a team in revising the Waterloo Region Climate Change Adaptation Toolkit Problem solving - overcame challenges with sponsoring a refugee by being versatile, resourceful and quick thinking - adapted community garden registration and theft prevention strategies Teaching - over 19 years of teaching experience in University, community and homeschool settings - experienced at developing and delivering course content
