About Heather Lisey
As the Program Director at Camp Tuku, I lead the creation and execution of engaging and innovative educational programs for children aged 6 to 11. Camp Tuku is a holistic and mindful summer camp that fosters emotional, social, and cognitive growth through nature, art, and wellness activities.With over 20 years of experience in elementary education, I have developed a strong expertise in curriculum design, learning and development, teacher mentoring, and grant writing. I hold a National Board Certification in Early Childhood/Generalist, and I am passionate about ensuring equitable access to academic rigor for all students. I have designed and delivered research-based lesson plans and resources that align with the Common Core Standards and foster hands-on project-based learning. I have also mentored and trained teachers in various instructional strategies, such as Kagan, Teach like a Champion, Precise Praise, and Character Strong. Additionally, I have secured multiple grants from various sources to support and enhance the learning outcomes of my students and teachers. I am committed to creating a positive and supportive learning environment that empowers and inspires children and educators.
