About Heather Doyle

As an experienced manager, I have worked in a variety of organizations leading and creating informal educational programs and public engagement campaigns that creatively involve the public in the scientific process. Currently I work for NASA\'s Jet Propulsion Laboratory as the Section Manager for STEM Engagement sharing NASA\'s work with the public via internships, informal education programs, JPL tours, digital content and exhibits to engage the public in NASA\'s science in inspiring ways. Previously, as the Director of Programs for the Girl Scouts, Hornets\' Nest Council, I managed collaborative relationships with community organizations to provide STEM programming for girls. In my position as Vice President of Education for Junior Achievement, I managed financial literacy educational programming and created a JA BizTown STEM initiative that included a research lab in the mini-town facility where students \"work\" as Research Scientists. In particular, I have a passion for reaching new audiences in creative ways. To this end, I was contracted by the USA Girl Scouts Overseas to provide programming on military bases in Germany and Italy where I created and facilitated STEM programs for girls and troop leaders that utilized art to teach science. As the Director of Heal the Bay\'s Santa Monica Pier Aquarium, I oversaw all operations, fundraising and instructional components for the facility that serves more than annually with marine biology and environmental education programs. This also involved serving as an Educational Curator for the Santa Monica Pier Corporation where I created a large annual S.T.E.A.M. Machines event that featured LA\'s regional Rube Goldberg Machine Contest surrounded by a festival of hands-on science activities. & v=y_nmZqNvwhI

   Lead JPL’s STEM Engagement Section activities including JPL’s intern program, volunteer networks, informal education and community engagement programs- Align JPL’s Intern Program with future workforce needs.
