About Heather Chamblee

I am the Director of FSO Analytics at Duke Energy and for the past 4 years I lead a data science team as the Senior Manager of Advanced Analytics in the AI Solutions group. Before transitioning to leadership, I was a lead quantitative analyst for 7 years collaborating with multiple business units. In addition to my blue sky role, I also served as the Resource Support Director for the Carolinas during major events. Prior to working at Duke, I was a Computer Scientist at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport, RI. I graduated in 2009 from North Carolina State University with a PhD in Applied Mathematics. I attended the University of Central Florida where I graduated from the Honors program with a BA in Mathematics: Physics and Engineering Track.

   Utilizing a data-driven approach and advanced stochastic models, my team simulates future fleet operations under variations in weather, price, and operational uncertainty. The resulting scenarios drive strategic decision-making for both fuel procurement and rate strategy. We also extend our analytical support to ensure long-term reliability for the energy grid.
