About Heather Baker

Over the course of her career, Heather has become one of the leading North Carolina workers’ compensation defense attorneys. As Partner and Workers’ Compensation Practice Group Chair at SLG, Heather brings more than 15 years of expertise to what she does best; working hard and collaboratively with clients across various industries to get the best results possible in each case.Heather has become a leader in her profession by speaking annually at local and national conferences, as well as regularly providing educational presentations for her clients. Her speaking engagements have included the North Carolina Bar Association’s Workers’ Compensation Seminar and the North Carolina Industrial Commission’s Annual Conference. In the past, she has served as Chair of the North Carolina Bar Association’s Workers’ Compensation Section Council and Regional Chair for the National Workers\' Compensation Defense Network. Heather graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Arts in English, and she earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill School of Law. She is a member of the North Carolina State Bar and is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association and Wake County Bar Association. She and her husband have two daughters and a French Bulldog. In her extra time, Heather runs and competes in marathons, which she uses as a reason to travel around the U.S. and the world. Over the last few years, she has traveled to Boston, Paris, Big Sur, and Berlin for marathons. In 2024, she competed in Boston 2 Big Sur where she won 1st Place Overall Female.
