ABOUT HEATHER A. CAMPBELL
I am a lawyer in the Constitutional and Aboriginal Law group of Alberta Justice in Calgary, working on advisory and litigation matters in the province. All opinions and thoughts expressed here are my own. I am an advocate for legal Pro Bono, and have been involved with a number of different projects over the years, including legal advocacy training in Kenya for lawyers and judges and working with the prosecution on the Khmer Rouge Tribunal in Cambodia Closer to home, I volunteered with the Civil Claims Duty Counsel program in the Court of King’s Bench, and with Calgary Legal Guidance, as well as providing pro bono legal services to different animal rescue organizations. In my former life, I was a corporate/commercial lawyer (for a few years).I love animals and nature, and I’d almost always rather be in the mountains in Alberta or Nepal (my background photo above is of Sagarmatha/Chomolungma,\"Goddess Mother of the World\" or \"Goddess of the Sky\", aka Mt Everest). My happy place is the David Sheldrick elephant orphanage in Nairobi, Kenya. I love elephants, and have visited elephant rescues and seen elephants in the wild across Malaysian and Indonesian Borneo, in northern Thailand, all across Kenya, and in Nepal. I am also a proud foster mom to naughty Ndotto the elephant in Kenya.
