About Heath Peterson

Heath Peterson has built a 23-year career with the KU Alumni Association, culminating in his appointment as its 10th President in November 2015. With an unwavering commitment to the University of Kansas, Heath serves the interests of KU alumni, fostering connections and pride among KU alumni and friends worldwide to strengthen the legacy of excellence among all Jayhawks!At the helm, Heath collaborates with a National Board of Directors to shape the association\'s strategy and ensure the sound governance of KUAA, a 501c3 organization. Leading a team of 42 dedicated staff members, he oversees engagement initiatives for the Alumni Association\'s members, donors and alumni, manages an extensive portfolio of programs and services, and is responsible for a $7.5 million operating budget, along with $60 million in net assets.Heath\'s tenure as president is marked by several key milestones, including the successful diversification, and strengthening of revenue streams through initiatives such as a new corporate partner program, increasing operating revenue by 25% and tripling net assets in eight years. Under his leadership, the Alumni Association built the largest student alumni network in the Big 12 critical to developing the next generation of alumni leaders and philanthropists. Heath and his team also created the Jayhawk Career Network, a hub of career resources featuring a robust mentoring program, connecting thousands of students and alumni across industries. A strong collaborator, Heath, in partnership with university leaders, spearheaded the development of an industry-leading Jayhawk Welcome Center and the renovation of the Adams Alumni Center. This transformative project showcases the essence of being a Jayhawk through a cutting-edge storytelling experience. Notably, Heath worked with a strong team including the Chancellor and KU Endowment leadership to secure $30 million in private philanthropy to fully fund the project and is proud of how the project has helped create a memorable first impression for KU, helping KU attract the next generation of Jayhawks!Heath holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master\'s Degree in Education. He shares his Jayhawk pride with his wife and KU graduate, Carrie Peterson DDS, and their three children, Beau, Presley, and Claire.
