ABOUT HANNAH HUFF

I am a DVM/MPH candidate at the University of Georgia that is passionate about the intersection of veterinary medicine, public health, and accessibility in care. I have a solid foundation in clinical practice, animal science research, and leadership. I strive to bridge gaps in veterinary care and advocate for more inclusive and equitable access. My diverse background includes veterinary assistant customer service, research in zoonotic diseases (including Campylobacter prevalence, hookworm resistance, and Ebola vaccine effectiveness), and mentoring as a former Resident Assistant. I am currently serving as a graduate assistant to the department head of Health Promotion & Behavior in UGA’s College of Public Health, where I explore health education and accessibility.Clinically, I have completed one year of rotations, refining my skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, and patient-centered care with a growing interest in veterinary ophthalmology. Beyond clinical work, I am deeply committed to diversity and inclusion in veterinary medicine, which led me to serve as President of the UGA chapter of the Student National Association for Black Veterinarians (SNABV) during my second and third years. A highlight of this work was being selected for the inaugural cohort of Chewy’s Veterinary Leaders Program in 2024.Through my experiences, I have developed strong communication, leadership, teamwork, and adaptability skills, which I use to collaborate effectively across disciplines. My ultimate goal is to be a veterinarian who approaches care with a public health lens—ensuring veterinary medicine is accessible, inclusive, and equitable for all. I am driven to help both animals and their owners by addressing disparities and advocating for a more diverse and representative profession. Always happy to connect with like-minded professionals!
