About Hao Chen
As the Technical Lead for Gantry\'s research team, I led the creation of the Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) evaluation framework, focusing on model-graded evaluations to tackle issues like retrieval failures and hallucinations. I also led the efforts to enhance hallucination detection in open-source Large Language Models (LLMs), significantly outperforming GPT-3.5 Turbo by fine-tuning Llama-2-7b.Currently, I\'m heading a project to develop a customer service chatbot agent aimed at automating tasks typically handled by humans. This involves setting evaluation criteria, refining the RAG pipeline, conducting query clustering and topic analysis, and creating tools for LLM-based agents, with the goal of improving efficiency and effectiveness in customer service.Previously, I worked as a Machine Learning Engineer and Applied Scientist for AWS AI and Amazon\'s Personalization team. There, I played a crucial role in developing data pipelines, training frameworks, and evaluation infrastructures. These initiatives collectively bolstered large-scale recommendation model training aimed at Amazon\'s softline\'s 30 million customers. Formerly the lead engineer for AWS Rekognition\'s Custom Label (CV AutoML) service, I was instrumental in shaping the system\'s design and implementing its API.
