Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is America\'s first cancer center founded in 1898 by Dr. Roswell Park. His revolutionary model of a “multidisciplinary approach” to cancer – with scientists and clinicians working in concert and collaboratively has become the standard by which all modern-day comprehensive cancer centers are measured. Vice President, Quality and Patient Safety ~ Holds primary responsibility for leading the development, implementation, and ongoing monitoring and measurement of clinical enterprise-wide quality improvement and patient safety programs that contribute to a highly effective organization able to demonstrate value and prove clinical efficacy and safety. Responsible for leading the development of a Drug Diversion Prevention, Detection, and Response Program as well as policy development and implementation of statutes and regulations. As an active member of the hospital’s senior leadership team, serves as a convener for interdepartmental and interdisciplinary initiatives and ensures that quality and patient safety activities are integrated into the organization and are strategically aligned. It is the responsibility of the Vice President to identify, advocate for, and build capacity to utilize, tools and methodologies required or useful to quality improvement in a clinical setting. Recommends and ensures optimal utilization of databases that allow comparative analysis of process and outcomes to be conducted for purposes of process improvement and ongoing identification of opportunities for improvement. Proving the value of care provided at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center to payers and to government agencies will have a larger role in the near- and longer-term direction of Quality. Has a key role in providing the structure for measuring, improving, and educating clinical teams and payers on this topic.
