ABOUT HAZAEL ROMAN LAGUNAS

I am a proud bilingual educator and leader with over 12 years of experience in Denver Public Schools, currently serving as the Principal of Force Elementary. My leadership journey is fueled by a deep commitment to equity, biliteracy, and creating joyful, rigorous learning environments where every student can thrive.Throughout my career, I have worn many hats—teacher, instructional coach, adjunct professor, and district instructor—each role strengthening my belief that transformative education begins with strong relationships, high expectations, and culturally responsive leadership. I take pride in mentoring and developing teachers, designing systems that elevate instruction, and building inclusive school cultures that honor the voices and strengths of our diverse communities. As an EdD student at CU Denver with a focus on Educational Leadership for Latinx Learners and Communities, my research interests include translanguaging, biliteracy, and leadership practices that center language equity. My work as an Adjunct Professor and MLE Teacher Qualification Instructor allows me to extend my passion for preparing future educators who are reflective, student-focused, and equity-driven.
