About Hays Jones

Throughout my time in college so far, I’ve learned a lot through my experiences. This past summer, I worked as a Guest Services Intern specializing in Rides at Southwind- a Young Life camp. This was an incredible experience that helped me to grow a lot. I was trained as a Certified Operator (meaning I am qualified to secure campers to the giant swing) and worked with 10 other operators to help thousands of middle school campers experience the adventure of swinging through the trees and riding bikes around a pump track with some of their best friends. The attention to detail and consistent hospitality that I learned at Southwind has carried into my everyday life. In my work in the OPCD, I collaborate with other Peer Instructors and Career Coaches to communicate to 60 students a week what being a business professional looks like. This past summer, I worked on the training team to organize activities for my coworkers. I led a few activities centered around the NACE competencies to focus on developing teamwork, cultural competency, and technological understanding. I also currently am serving as a Young Life leader at Auburn High School. I spend roughly 10 hours a week with high school guys leading them in how to walk through life in a Christlike way. The positivity and availability that I aim to demonstrate for my high school friends is something I plan to continue in my life after college. This upcoming summer, I get the opportunity to go on the School of Accountancy Study Abroad program in Madrid, Spain and Rome, Italy. I’m looking forward to this experience and excited to learn more about the language of business while brushing up on my Spanish and picking up some Italian.
