Skilled in fostering relationships and mentoring students to fulfill personal and position goals while meeting guiding policies and procedures.So how did academic advising become the goal? In my college career, I experienced both poor and great advisors. As an undeclared freshman, I encountered an advisor who gave me forms to fill out but no suggestions as to how to approach an overwhelming course catalog. Without asking me a single question, she sent me on my way. It wasn’t until I declared Public Relations as my major that I found advisors willing to dig into my goals and help me find solutions to scheduling problems and “bonuses” in the multi-answer puzzle that is university life. College should be a wonderful time of exploration and discovery, but it can also be overwhelming and confusing. I want to be the person that helps students find their way through a time of change and toward a successful college experience.
