About Hayes Rutter

My mission is to make the Internet a safer place by securing networks belonging to institutions that are critical to the functioning of our society. Over the last 21 years I’ve seen information security grow from a niche concern that only the largest companies dealt with to a full-fledged profession that is driving solutions to one of the major problems of our age. Through it all, I’ve been on the forefront of developing methods and technologies that progress cyber security from art to science. We have a long way to go as an industry until we can call the problem of online security solved. But I consider it my life’s work to contribute. From my background in the Navy, I find that applying some military principles to the information security problem is much needed within the industry.I especially enjoy encountering brilliant people who are also working on information security. I am at my best when given a broad mission to achieve and allowed to pursue the mission according to plans I develop with my team. I also find it very rewarding to contribute to the culture of my organization through leadership, ideas, and by example.
