About Haydn Chen
If you are in higher education and interested in pan-pacific region, you and I have things in common. Being one of the very few who have had higher education experience in seven universities on both sides of Pacific Ocean, I have a unique combination of experience that would be a resource to many. With a MS and PhD degrees in materials science from Northwestern university I began my academic career in University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where I am now an Emeritus Professor. Since the year of opportunities presented to me and brought me to Asia where I served in 5 universities as Chair Professor and concurrently as academic administrator. Following is a list of my experiences.*Head of Department in the City University of Hong Kong.*President of Tunghai University in Taiwan.*Vice Rector of University of Macau*CEO of Institution Advancement in National Chiao Tung University (NYCU) in Taiwan*Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) of National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) in TaiwanAs a CSO I get involved in various innovative and collaborative endeavors for the sustainable operation of one of the top universities in Taiwan the NYCU. also serve as a Liaison person in the United States for NYCU to connect universities, industries, faculty and students for teaching and research experience and collaborations.
