About Hatab Fadera

I’m an experienced digital content designer and strategic communications manager with knowledge of multiple design platforms, media production, social media management, editing, federal grant assistance, public affairs, and journalism. I’m also an emerging media design professional with skill sets in UX Research, design thinking, and transmedia storytelling. Over the years I have leveraged new media tools to engage diverse communities through strategic and proactive engagement of the targeted audience on social and digital platforms. In my previous role at the US Embassy in Banjul, I conceptualized and implemented multi-pronged digital campaign strategies to promote U.S. Government policies and programs; increased engagement on Embassy\'s social media properties by creating interactive videos and graphics; drafted media advisories, press releases, op-eds, and talking points; and improved U.S. Department of State-wide understanding of the dynamic situation in The Gambia by managing the daily country media brief. In my most recent role as a Graduate Assistant at Ball State University, I edited 33 instructional design videos for the university’s Lifetime Learning Division. I also served as the lead editor of a one-time biggest daily newspaper in The Gambia where I was responsible for editing articles and supervising the daily editorial production. I hold an M.A. in Emerging Media Design and Development from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, USA, and a B.A. in Journalism from the University of The Gambia. I also have multiple professional certificates in Foundational Public Diplomacy, Social Media Marketing, and Federal Grants Management from Foreign Service Institute in Arlington, Virginia, USA. I am a recipient of two honors - U.S. State Department’s Africa Bureau Employee of The Year, 2020, and U.S. Embassy Banjul’s Employee of The Year, 2019. I am also the Co-founder and the immediate-past National Coordinator of the youth-led NGO, Side By Side – Gambia.
