ABOUT HASVI MURIKI

Currently a Development Associate at the Carolina Credit Union Initiative, I am contributing to the establishment of a student-run financial institution at UNC Chapel Hill to empower financial autonomy and innovation. I am also serving as a Resident Advisor for the Residential Learning Program at Ehringhaus Residence Hall, where I foster a welcoming and growth-oriented community through mentorship and program development. My academic background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Information Science, and Entrepreneurship at UNC-Chapel Hill, with additional studies in the Shuford Program in Entrepreneurship. I am also a Growth Intern at CareHome Health, focusing on strategic outreach and sustainability, and a Research Assistant at UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School, supporting research on value creation and business strategy.I\'m a DexSchool graduate, love anything sports-related, and you\'ll usually find me either cycling, running, writing blog posts, debating at MUN conferences, or occasionally giving TEDx talks (which is still kind of surreal to say). The mountaineering thing started a while back and honestly changed my life. I\'m a four-time world record holder, which sounds crazy when I say it out loud, but it\'s been the most incredible journey. I\'ve climbed 3 out of the 7 summits so far, and my goal is to knock out all seven before I turn 19. Some of the records I hold include being the youngest girl to climb Mt. UT Kangri, and to summit Mt. Kang Yatse and Mt. Dzo Jongo within 70 hours (that one was brutal). I\'m also the youngest girl to climb both the West and East peaks of Mt. Elbrus—Europe\'s highest mountain—within 24 hours, and the youngest to summit Island Peak in Nepal at 6,189 meters. So far I\'ve done 12 expeditions total, and each one has taught me something completely different about perseverance and what I\'m made of.Outside of climbing, I\'ve been doing MUN for years, which has been amazing for sharpening my public speaking and diplomacy skills. I\'ve somehow ended up giving two TEDx talks in one year, which was both terrifying and awesome—I love getting to share what I\'ve learned and hopefully inspire people along the way. I also write a lot—blogging is one of my favorite ways to process experiences and connect with people who are into similar things.
