I work as a Forensic Engineer for CTETS, where my duties include the inspection and evaluation of residential and commercial vertical structures for the purpose of preparing technical reports and exhibits used in construction design compliance litigation. My work spans both plaintiff and defense assignments, requiring objectivity, technical accuracy, and the ability to communicate engineering findings to a wide range of stakeholders. The scope of my inspections includes, but is not limited to, visual observation of building exteriors, interiors, roofs, attics, crawl spaces, to identify and document signs of structural or envelope-related distress. Where necessary, I also participate in destructive testing of building envelope and roofing assemblies to evaluate hidden components and verify compliance with construction standards. In addition to building envelope work, I have conducted grading and drainage observations to assess site water management and its effect on foundation performance. I am experienced in performing relative level surveys to quantify differential movement of slab-on-grade and foundation systems, which are then correlated with observed distress patterns. The data gathered from these investigations is carefully organized, analyzed, and applied to prepare technical memorandums, reports, and graphic exhibits that support expert witnesses and legal teams in trial settings. This role has required me to integrate principles of structural engineering, building science, and soil–structure interaction while applying judgment under litigation standards. My contributions often include developing large data sets from field surveys, producing exhibits, and authoring or coauthoring construction design compliance reports. This work has enhanced my ability to assess complex structures, synthesize technical findings into clear written reports, and contribute to litigation outcomes while upholding professional engineering standards.
