About Mohd Hasnain Sayed

I have completed my PhD - Chemistry (homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis) under the supervision of Prof. B.M. Bhanage and Prof. Radha V. Jayaram from the Department of Chemistry, Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai. My research focused on the synthesis, characterization of solid catalysts, and formulation of Pickering emulsions, as well as the synthesis and characterization of surfactants for catalytic organic transformations. During my doctoral studies, I developed a deep understanding of solid-state chemistry, heterogeneous and homogeneous catalysis, surface and interfacial phenomena, emulsion formulations, synthesis and characterization of surface-active agents. My dissertation focused on developing heterogeneous and homogeneous catalysts for Pickering emulsions and surfactant-mediated catalytic systems for organic synthesis. Through this work, I gained proficiency in designing sustainable heterogeneous and homogeneous catalysts, surface-active agents with desired properties and testing them for catalytic applications. I have a demonstrated history of culminating complex scientific ideas into a research publication. One of my research outcomes was published in one of the top surface and interfacial science journals, Journal of Colloid and Interface Science (IF: 9.4). I have gained expertise in catalysis, solid-state chemistry, surface and interfacial catalysis, analytical method development, scaling up reactions, literature review, scientific writing and data presentation. I am also familiar with the handling of analytical instruments such as XRD, TPD, FT-IR, SEM, TEM, DSC, TGA, BET, DLS, CHNS, NMR, GC, GC-MS, Tensiometer, Confocal microscopy, etc routinely used in the characterization of homogenous and heterogenous catalysts and surfactants. In addition to my research, I have had the opportunity to mentor 03 master\'s students and 01 undergraduate student, design experimental protocols and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across various departments and institutes. These experiences have strengthened my analytical, problem-solving and leadership skills, which I believe will allow me to make valuable contributions. I am a diligent research professional with a demonstrated ability to complete tasks within the given timeline.
