ABOUT HASAN AYHAN

I am a Senior Research Scientist at Cerence AI with a long-standing passion for Language Modeling, Deep Learning and ML that began during my studies of Computer Science at RWTH Aachen University, where a seminar and written report on neural network–based language models as well as several courses in the field of AI, sparked the trajectory of my career. At Cerence AI, this passion evolved into several years of Language Modeling R&D for Automotive Speech Recognition systems, developing both count-based and neural LMs for multilingual in-car assistants used by leading automakers. Over the past two years, my work has transitioned into advanced Generative AI research, focusing on Post-Training of Large Language Models using state-of-the-art methods such as SFT,(Q)LoRA, DPO and RLVR (Reinforcement Learning with Verifiable Rewards) methods like GRPO as well as Model Evaluation, Dataset Preparation and more in Agentic workflows. My work also includes the application of quantization strategies to efficiently specialize LLMs for edge and embedded automotive environments. I am overall very passionate about anything AI & LLMs and love to continuously gain new knowledge in the field.Earlier in my career, I built a strong foundation in computer vision, starting with my bachelor’s thesis on object detection in 360° imagery using CNNs, and later extending to video object segmentation and tracking during my internship at the fka automotive research institute. Across all stages of my work, I combine deep research expertise, strong analytical thinking and an eye for details with practical engineering to contribute in building robust, scalable, and production-ready AI systems that advance the capabilities of modern intelligent assistants.
