ABOUT HARVEY READ
An ambitious self-starter looking to work legal placements in IP law, enterprise, and entertainment. I’m dedicated to leveraging my skills to contribute towards industry-shaping services.Open to connect to understand how to help each other out - here\'s the story so far:My passion towards creativity and business started when I was 14 when I made two social media pages with friends that were viewed by thousands.Since then, it has led me to focus on my creative side - by 17, I had set up a script consultancy business that provided service to over 150 clients. The majority of these screenplays placed in competition or sold to talent & producers. This led me to take pride in my ability to write - by 19 I had sold a screenplay with a producer previously connected to A24 and Plan B Entertainment. Being affiliated in this opportunity distilled the essence of pre-production on a high-level, with the experience itself showcasing my adeptness in written communication. With my creative side fulfilled, I wanted to integrate aspects of business back into my life; I began to help SMEs grow, teaching me more about the aspects of management and how to scale 6 to 7-figure businesses that would have been out of reach without establishing this position. In combination with previous managerial roles, and my opportunity to study with the Saïd Business School from Oxford University, I progressed my understanding of business, leadership, and managerial growth. At 20, I worked with Penguin Random House to familiarise myself with the pipeline of an entertainment company handles upcoming projects. This was also the stage where I was introduced further into how the back-end of creative projects - the legal teams, the marketing - were fundamental in shaping them.Through a to-that-point 5-year autodidactic approach that opened achievements in business development and my own creative output, it ended up leading me to switch my course as an LLB law student at the University of Nottingham as to embark towards my aspirations of becoming an international IP lawyer, with a focus on entertainment & media.Looking forward, my varied background across industries underpin my ability to navigate diverse legal landscapes. This aligns with my commitment to bridge the gap between entertainment and legal technology, developing newly-definable frameworks to support these sectors. Tomorrow belongs to those who create it - I want to be an advocate for the ownership and scalability of next-generation creations and innovations that push industry and culture forward.
