YOUNGO is the official youth constituency to the Attended COP30, where I led and participated in a range of policy and advocacy work related to climate, nature and forests, co-leading and co-organising within a small group of delegates - Co-authored the YOUNGO submission to the on \'cooperation with other international organisations\', focusing on enhancing Rio Convention synergies across the biodiversity-climate-land nexus- Co-authored the nature and biodiversity section of YOUNGO’s Global Youth Statement (a synthesis of the collective policy demands and proposals of young people for COP30) focusing on the Tropical Forest Forever Facility and development of a Climate and Nature Work Programme- Co-authored YOUNGO\'s position paper on the Tropical Forest Forever Facility involving research into blended finance mechanisms- Presented the outcomes of COP30 for nature and forests as part of a YOUNGO post-COP webinar series- Represented YOUNGO at a youth consultation for the 2026 Human Development Report and represented the WG at a high-level dialogue on natural rights-led governance at COP30- Speaker on the \'Role of Youth in achieving the 2030 Agenda\"

ABOUT HARVEET SINGH PUREWAL
I am a young environmental campaigner, nature advocate and Biology Master\'s student, part of the NATURE Impacts research initiative - an Oxford and WWF-UK project.My advocacy spans the nature-climate nexus, highlighting the role of nature as a climate solution, and the need for greater nature-climate policy coherence and synergistic action to achieve the goals of the UN climate and biodiversity conventions, with speaker experience across various platforms, including at COP30. As a young activist, increasing youth engagement and accessibility is at the heart of my advocacy, with leadership experience in UN youth constituencies and youth-led NGOs at the national, European and global level working to ensure a green just transition. I am also a student at the University of Oxford, reading for an Integrated Masters in Biology, specialising in conservation, ecology, and sustainable development with a focus on the tropics and a passion for combining Western and Indigenous science.For my Master\'s research project, I am researching whether the UK’s current commitments, efforts and actions are sufficient to address its domestic and international biodiversity impacts and what future priorities should be to catalyse nature recovery as part of the NATURE Impacts initiative being developed by Oxford University and WWF-UK. Using both my scientific and activist background, I am committed to bridging the science-policy gap to ensure that decision-making is grounded in scientific evidence. Happy to chat!
