ABOUT HARVEER DEV
I am a Group Leader and Academic Urologist at the Early Cancer Institute, University of Cambridge, leading the Dev Group on early, potentially lethal prostate cancer. We work across biology, technology and clinical trials, focusing on epigenetics, liquid biopsies and DNA repair–targeted therapies. Our research asks how genomic and epigenetic changes in tissue and blood – including methylation-based cell-free DNA – drive the transition from indolent to lethal disease, shape the tumour microenvironment and can be used for detection and determining response to treatment. We use novel technologies (targeted methylation assays, single-cell and spatial profiling) alongside early-phase and peri-operative “window” trials. In parallel, we are developing and patenting liquid biopsy platforms for detection, risk stratification and treatment response monitoring, with the intention to bring these to the clinic. The goal is to move effective treatments earlier and to deliver biologically informed, implementable tools that help select the right treatment for the right patient at the right time.
