Principal-level AI systems engineer and solution architect with 20+ years’ experience delivering end-to-end, production-grade platforms across enterprise, public sector, and startups. I specialise in LLM-enabled systems, applied AI, and automation — leading through architecture, execution, and ownership rather than people management. I thrive in high-autonomy environments, trusted to take ambiguous problems from concept to real delivery. SC-cleared (Justice, Home Office), consulting-hardened, and governance-aware.I operate as a principal-level individual contributor, leading through clarity of thought, technical judgement, and execution. My strength is taking ambiguous, high-risk problems and turning them into coherent systems that actually get used. I’m comfortable owning outcomes end to end — from problem framing and architecture through to build, deployment, and iteration.My recent work focuses on AI-enabled platforms, particularly LLM-based systems operating inside real organisational constraints: existing data estates, security models, governance requirements, cost limits, and delivery pressure. This includes retrieval-augmented generation, tool-using agents, structured outputs, evaluation loops, and automation. I actively use meta-prompting and specification-driven approaches (e.g. spec-kit) to reduce ambiguity, accelerate delivery, and raise system quality.I bring a consultant’s communication skills with a builder’s mindset. I’m client-facing, cross-functional by default (product, delivery, security, data, leadership), and strongly biased toward shipping real systems over producing slideware. I’m highly self-reliant, pragmatic, and delivery-focused, with a consistent “can-do” attitude shaped by years in consulting and applied innovation roles.I have delivered multiple SC-cleared engagements in regulated environments, including Justice and Home Office, and consistently embed responsible AI practices into system design — human-in-the-loop decisioning, auditability, data minimisation, and proportionate automation. While I mentor and guide engineers, my leadership is technical rather than managerial: I lead by building, unblocking, setting direction through architecture, and raising the quality bar through example.
