ABOUT HARRY NIZARD

At Fraunhofer FEP, I am responsible for the coordination of Nanomaterials research. I lead research activities on nano-particle generation in vacuo by gas aggregation process, PECVD thin films, and their combination in nano-composite thin films. My science background revolves around Plasma Science and Flow Dynamics, applied in the fields of Surface & Coating technologies. As a scientist, I seek an in-depth understanding of the processes I observe and analyse. My my daily tasks and activities involve the redaction of project proposals, the management of R&D projects, the supervision of students\' Thesis, redaction of scientific publications, presentations in conferences, communication and the search for relevant new project parnerships. Specialties: Plasma Science, Environmental Plasma Processes, Plasmonics, Nanoparticles Generation, Nanocomposites coatings, Flow dynamics, Turbulence, FEA modeling, Photo-catalysis, Film Growth mechanisms, Precious metals, Organometalics, Precursor reaction chemistry, Surface & Coating Technologies. Processes: Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD, Sputtering), Cluster Beam Deposition, Gas Phase Condensation (GPC), Dielectric Barrier Discharge (DBD), Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD, APCVD, PECVD), Cold-Gas Spray, Sol-gel coatings Techniques: FEM, Emission Spectroscopy, FTIR, Photocatalytic activity measurement, Electronic microscopy (SEM, TEM & HRTEM), Element analysis (XPS-ESCA, EDS-EDX, SIMS), Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), Mass spectroscopy, etc.
