I currently have the privilege of overseeing Keap Candles, a Hudson Valley based benefit corporation, whose purpose is to help restore connection to our planet, our loved ones and our own spirit.It\'s a purpose that deeply connects with my personal journey and my interests, which include in no particular order- Regenerative supply chains: what does it mean for a supply chain to be \"regenerative\" and how do we get there within a system that disincentivizes them- Alternative ownership and finance: how can we reform corporate forms and the way we invest in them so that they serve a purpose to society rather than being parasites- Humane technology and marketing: how might we move away from marketing systems that emphasize distraction, addiction and behavior manipulation to methods that build collaboration, resilience, and community- Creating Permacultures: how might we combine indigenous wisdom with modern scientific knowledge to create new forms of ecological self-reliance- Indigenous wisdom and unburying indigenous history: how we do begin to heal from the atrocities committed towards our land and its indigenous inhabitants since the founding of our nation—especially when we so desperately need Indigenous wisdom to carry us through this era of climate adaptation- Societal and individual trauma healing: how do we individually and collectively begin the process of healing so we can envision a world of peace, respect and dignity- Lean Logic and self-management: how can we apply principles of lean manufacturing (in the original Toyota sense) and democratic systems to create much more effective, resilient and generative institutions, in any sector- Human-scale places: how might we (massively) reduce our infrastructure\'s car dependence and use land in ways that allow everyone to live in an environment that is sustainable, healthy, beautiful, convenient and naturally builds community? Aside from that, I also believe in the power of great hospitality and music (especially house!) to bring people together. Our candles are made locally in Kingston, NY with regenerative materials and a vision of zero-waste. We prioritize long-term connection in the way we treat our customers, our team and other stakeholders.
