Since the start of the war, millions of windows have been blown out by bombs or bullets. Soaring energy prices and sub-zero winter temperatures make this an urgent problem as windows are a key component of good building insulation.Current solutions fall short on several counts. They don’t insulate well, they don’t let light through, and they can be difficult to install.Insulate Ukraine windows are triple-glazed polyethene windows designed to protect against the cold. IU windows insulate like double glazing, let light through, cost $15 per square meter of the window, and can be built at home in 15 minutes from basic materials.

I am and always have been a curious character. I enjoy searching for and solving everyday problems and implementing a solution if I can find one. My curiosity has brought me to love mathematics and I’ve constantly attempted to apply what I had learned in the material world. For this reason Mathematical Engineering at the University of Bristol was a perfect fit and has now given me the skills and tools I needed to apply my love for mathematics to heaps of problems that can make a real difference. I have already tried once; I took a sabbatical from university to developing a privacy-first phone app, unfortunately after two years and many lessons learned it was not to be. I am now back at university finishing the final year of my degree and looking for that next exciting opportunity to feed my curiosity.
