In my current role at eyos, I serve as the Lead Cloud Engineer and Head of Technical Support, managing a large cloud infrastructure estate alongside a global technical support team based in three countries.After a successful short-term contract with eyos, I transitioned into a full-time position where I\'ve been instrumental in modernizing our cloud infrastructure. I led the transformation from a monolithic architecture to a scalable microservices application, resulting in reduced costs and improved performance.Key achievements and responsibilities include:Cost Optimization: Achieved a 33% reduction in cloud costs on a long-running legacy application, saving approximately $9K per month.Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Introduced Terraform to automate and streamline our infrastructure deployment processes.CI/CD Enhancements: Improved our CI/CD pipelines, leading to faster deployment times and an enhanced developer experience.Observability Stack Implementation: Deployed a full open-source observability stack based on Grafana, Loki, Prometheus, and Tempo within Kubernetes environments.Team Leadership: Managed a global product and technical support team across two continents and four countries, fostering collaboration and efficiency.Comprehensive Oversight: Responsible for cloud infrastructure, technical support, security, databases (Snowflake, BigQuery, Datastore, Data Lake), CI/CD processes, and contributing to product decisions.This role combines strategic planning with hands-on technical work, allowing me to drive innovation and efficiency within the company. My efforts have not only optimized operational performance but have also significantly improved the developer and customer experience at eyos.
