UC Berkeley - Gateway - Sole MEP Superintendent for academic multipurpose building.Lead superintendent of complex MEPF infrastructure, Elevator and Kitchen scopes worth up to $200M, as well as field lead of the MEPF portions of full interior buildout over the course of three years. Field lead on all underground MEPF, critical infrastructure buildout and commissioning readiness. Assisted the commissioning of highly complex ASHRC and ASHP mechanical systems (Multistack). Developed familiarity with smoke control requirements through the course of building highly detailed fire shutters and an extremely attentive inspection team.Field lead on elevator buildout - 5 passenger cabs and freight car.Field lead on commercial duty (2) and light duty kitchens (10).UCB Gateway was an extremely complex and high-end buildout, with an immense amount of millwork finishes. The gateway posed extreme technicality in device alignment, as well as the coordination of hundreds of unique conditions for MEPF integration to the final product. Managed the install of a continuously-changing design with thousands of RFIs in a design-build project. The building is all curved with six unique grid patterns and relied heavily on the use of Trimble and Dusty for layout and installation. Unique features included radiant flooring and ceiling panels to optimize energy efficiency, sophisticated lighting automations, superior customizable AV setups and incredibly stringent acoustical specifications at the request of the client.Total of value.Types of Rooms: Research Labs, Drone Labs, Optics Lab and a new lab for groundbreaking carbon reduction technologies to be the home of UC Berkeley’s latest Nobel Prize Winner. Additionally, complex Server Rooms, Data Centers, Lecture Halls, Faculty Offices, Workspaces, Lounges, Event Centers and Kitchens were constructed.
