ABOUT HARRIETTE SMITH

I am a Chartered Construction Manager (MCIOB) and Property leader with over 13 years’ experience delivering multi-site development, refurbishment and capital investment programmes across diverse operational estates. My commitment to continuous growth and leadership is reflected in graduating from the Wihtl Global Women Leaders Programme in 2024 and being recognised as Central Co-op’s Leader of the Year.In my current senior role, I lead a project delivery team, translating property strategy into high-quality built outcomes from feasibility through to completion while maintaining strong governance, cost control and programme certainty. I manage the full end-to-end process, from supporting feasibility and site viability assessments, leading the planning process, and shaping development strategies that enable confident investment decisions, through to handing over projects to operating end users.My experience spans food retail, funeral, investment and residential sectors, delivering schemes from ground-up construction and shell fit-out projects to refurbishments within live operational environments. A key strength is establishing procurement approaches that foster strategic, long-term partnerships with consultants and contractors, improving delivery consistency, commercial outcomes and programme resilience.I lead with a calm, decisive and collaborative style, setting standards through example and building respectful, trusting relationships across teams and partners. Passionate about the construction sector, I am motivated by creating well-designed spaces that serve communities, enhance customer experience, and deliver lasting value.
