About Harold Russo

Dr Harold Russo received his Bachelor of Science Degree with Distinction in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University College of London and began his career as a pharma sales representative, creating a unique partnership void of economic incentives, before holding research positions in pharmaceutical R&D for Pfizer, Pharmacia. After two decades of work in the field, he went on to earn his Pharm.D with Distinction from the University College London.Dr Russo is recognized (by colleagues and throughout the industry) for his expertise in the physical, chemical, and mechanical property characterizations of active pharmaceutical ingredients, excipients, and products as well as the development of scientific strategies for oral solid dosage form development.Prior to becoming a full-time pharma consultant and researcher Dr Russo partnered with health team members from Yale New Haven Hospital with a focus on Drug Therapy and Utilization Review.He was involved in Global Regulatory Strategy, Policy and Safety being responsible for all regulatory strategy and operations, global regulatory policy and intelligence, and global product safety and pharmacovigilance.Additionally, he served on the Development Review Committee for all clinical stages and the Safety Review Committee. He also chaired the Development Policy Committee and co-chaired the Regulatory Affairs Coordinating Committee for Pharmaceutical Research.Dr. Russo has served in several volunteer roles in the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) as well as the United States Pharmacopeia (USP). He is a current member and Fellow of AAPS.Dr. Russo’s current and past consulting work includes experience supporting a variety of private and public sector healthcare clients in the U.S. and abroad — including health systems, payors, and pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers.He also continues work on his current research interests focusing on oral bio-performance assessment and in vivo predictive dissolution specifically for antineoplastic agents.
