About Harminder Singh
As a Professor of Neurosurgery at Stanford University School of Medicine and the Chief of Neurosurgery at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, I have over 17 years of experience in clinical practice, research, and education in the field of neurosurgery. I am board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery (ABNS) and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS).My clinical and research interests lie in applying the principles of minimally invasive surgery to tumors and vascular lesions of the brain and spine. I received advanced training in minimally invasive cranial surgery from Cornell University and in complex cerebrovascular and skull base surgery from the University of Washington. I have edited two books, published over 100 papers and book chapters, and lectured nationally and internationally on these topics. I am also passionate about resident education, having organized numerous cadaveric workshops and didactic symposiums for residents.In addition, I am interested in shaping public policy related to the delivery of health care in the US, both in the public and private sectors, through improving efficiency, ensuring quality, and strengthening equitable access to health care. I have an MBA in Healthcare Management from the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona. I have a special interest in learning and teaching about Leadership, and am a graduate of the Stanford Medicine Leadership Academy and certification on Surgical Leadership from Harvard Medical School. I am the Past-President of the American Association of South Asian Neurosurgeons, a professional organization that promotes the advancement of neurosurgery among South Asian Americans and fosters collaboration and exchange with neurosurgeons from South Asia.
