About Harley Rouda
Harley was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. After graduating early from law school, Harley began working for one of the country\'s largest law firms with a focus on securities work, business formations, and intellectual property. Harley then left the practice of law and joined his father\'s real estate firm. Recognizing the impact of emerging technologies on what had historically been a cottage industry, Harley directed the firm in developing several of the industry\'s first technological advances and using them to drive unprecedented organic growth. With the industry\'s leading technology platform in hand, Harley drove the next phase of growth by orchestrating the acquisition/roll-up of 14 companies under the name of Real Living, creating the country’s 4th largest independently owned residential real estate firm with over $150M in revenues, while simultaneously getting his MBA from The Ohio State University. In 2009, Harley sold Real Living to Brookfield, who owned the GMAC Real Estate network, and took over the leadership of the combined entity, expanding into 45 states. Finally, in late 2012 Real Living was sold to Berkshire Hathaway. In 2017, Harley made the decision to try and serve his country by running for Congress. In November 2018, against all odds, Harley defeated a 30-year incumbent and was sworn into the 116th Congress on January 3rd, 2019. Harley is married to the award winning author, Kaira Sturdivant Rouda and they reside in Laguna Beach. They are blessed to have four wonderful kids who constantly amaze them, who are each accomplished in their own ways, and have made their family journey the best of times.
