ABOUT HARLEEN K. SOHI

Harleen K. Sohi has worked in the nonprofit sector for over 14 years, specializing in business development, process improvement, and strategic planning. She brings 8 years of supervisory experience—managing teams of up to 7 direct reports, and maintained a 100% staff retention rate in 2024. In this role, she advanced business development best practices grounded in Shipley methodology and promoted a collaborative and inclusive team culture.Before joining FHI 360, Harleen was the Senior Business Development Manager at the International City/County Management Association (ICMA). There, she oversaw ICMA’s pipeline of federal and foundation funding opportunities and supported hundreds of proposals that secured over $80 million in awards from funders such as USAID, U.S. Department of State, Department of Energy, EPA, World Bank, Asian Development Bank, the European Union, and private foundations. In 2018, she was honored with ICMA’s Management Excellence Award for her outstanding leadership.Earlier in her career, Harleen worked with the American Red Cross, supporting communities in Asia and Europe with disaster preparedness and response. She spent significant time in Vietnam designing and implementing a school-based disaster preparedness program reaching more than students. Harleen also contributed to response efforts for Typhoon Haiyan and the 2015 Nepal Earthquake.A native of Fairfax, Virginia, Harleen earned her B.A. in English with a minor in Biology from The George Washington University.
