About Harish Rao

My experience encompasses environmental engineering regulatory compliance consulting, working at a state regulatory agency, university teaching and research, including teaching appointment for several years as Adjunct Professor in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at Northwestern University. As a consultant, I have provided a broad spectrum of environmental services to a variety of clients - industrial, commercial, municipal, and legal counsel. As head of the Scientific/Technical Section of the Illinois Pollution Control Board, a quasi-judicial regulatory agency adjudicating cases and promulgating regulations for all media (air, water, land, and noise), I provided technical expertise and analysis to Board members on pending regulations and cases. Previously, I was involved in research and taught undergraduate and graduate courses in civil and environmental engineering at several universities. I have been motivated by the environmental issues of the last few decades, including the challenge of global climate change and need for action.I am committed to promoting environmentally sound solutions to problems with a focus on sustainability. My quiver of tools which I bring to every project includes this extensive base of experience and analytical skills to manage routine tasks speedily and tackle challenging new environmental projects successfully. My goal is to provide high quality services to clients by first listening and understanding the issues and then helping them meet environmental requirements and developing practical approaches and solutions to environmental, health, and safety issues.
