About Haripriya Bhattaru
I recently completed my M.Eng. in Biomedical Engineering at Cornell University, where I focused on medical device design, quality systems, and innovation driven by real clinical needs. My work centered on combining technical expertise with patient-centered thinking to contribute to safe, effective, and scalable healthcare solutions.As part of my capstone, I worked on an industry-sponsored project with Boehringer Labs to develop an innovative and easy-to-use alternative for gastrointestinal feeding challenges in neonatal and geriatric patients. Through this project, I applied design controls, conducted risk assessments using FMEA, and contributed to prototyping and early-stage design using SolidWorks. I also gained hands-on exposure to usability testing, stakeholder feedback integration, and quality assurance principles aligned with FDA expectations.In parallel, I completed a clinical preceptorship at Guthrie Hospital, where I shadowed physicians, observed surgical and diagnostic procedures, and engaged in discussions around workflow bottlenecks and device inefficiencies. These experiences sharpened my ability to identify unmet needs, translating clinical insight into meaningful design opportunities through design thinking and systems-based analysis. These clinical insights also shaped my design decisions and deepened my commitment to human-centered, systems-level problem-solving.With experience in design thinking, risk management, and cross-functional collaboration, I am excited to contribute to impactful medtech teams, particularly in roles involving quality assurance, design engineering, new product development, and R&D. I’m driven by the belief that thoughtful engineering can lead to transformative patient outcomes.
