About Hariharan Subramanyan
Hariharan Subramanyan is a distinguished leader in EPC Project Management capability building space, renowned for his strategic vision, transformation expertise, and commitment to capability building. With nearly three decades of multifaceted experience spanning management practice, consulting, research, and academia, he brings a unique blend of people insight and project acumen.Hariharan holds a Ph.D. in Construction Management and is a university rank holder in both his graduate and postgraduate studies. His credentials include PMI-PMP®, PMI-CP®, GRI certification, Korn Ferry Job Evaluation, and AON’s Certified Learning Professional.Currently serving as Head of the Project Management Centre of Excellence at Tata Projects, Hariharan leads initiatives to enhance project and functional capabilities, including pioneering PM Leadership assessment and development centres. He has actively supported skill building initiatives by forging strategic partnerships through MoUs with the Construction Sector Skill Council, Hydrocarbon Sector Skill Council, and the Construction Industry Development Council. His contributions have significantly impacted frontline skill development across project sites.Hariharan also led the implementation of a Learning Management System (LMS) at Tata Projects, launching the transformative “Anytime Anywhere Learning” initiative. This program democratized access to learning across multiple employee levels, ensuring continuity and engagement even during the COVID-19 pandemic. In recognition of this impactful work, he was honoured with the Annual Business Award for “Ensuring Learning Continuity.”His prior tenure at L&T’s Institute of Project Management saw him design and deliver executive development programs and publish a case study book as a knowledge repository. Hariharan is widely recognized as a thought leader in project management and leadership development, known for blending research rigor with execution excellence.He has collaborated with global experts from institutions such as George Washington University, Cranfield University, Technion, and NASA, and is currently volunteer leader of PMI on the Global Thought Leadership Advisory Council of PMI USA. His contributions include serving on the technical committee for the Indian Infrastructure Body of Knowledge (InBok) under NITI Aayog.Hariharan’s teaching philosophy emphasizes simulation-based experiential learning, making education engaging and transformative.
